Duff Elementary’s new library now open

How do you mark the grand opening of Duff Elementary’s new library? With a special guest visit of course!

Renowned educator and storyteller helped celebrate the newly renovated library with the Mustangs by sharing his enthusiasm听for literature.

鈥淭his is such a huge deal,鈥 said Duff librarian Stacie Farr. 鈥淲hen we were opening this new space, I knew we were never going to have another opportunity to open a new library and bring John Schu.鈥

Schu, who spends 300 days a year traveling the globe to spark a love for reading, captivated the audience with his energy and passion, gifting over 100 books to students and staff.

鈥淭he thing that鈥檚 wonderful to me is that everywhere I go it鈥檚 like the first day of school,鈥 Schu said. 鈥淲e get to meet, we get to come together, we get to celebrate story and we get to go on a journey through story.鈥

As a teacher, librarian, writer, lecturer and ambassador of school libraries, Schu does it all.

鈥淣o matter where I go, people are hungry for connection and moments of joy,鈥 he听said. 鈥淚 get to experience those things all because of story.鈥

And that鈥檚 exactly what he brought to Duff.

鈥淭he kids have loved it,鈥 Farr said. 鈥淲hat an awesome gift to bring to the teachers and the students as we open up our new library.鈥

The new library 鈥 funded by the 2019 Bond 鈥撎齱as created after the original library was demolished along with an adjacent classroom. Those spaces were combined and completely renovated into a bigger, better library.
