Committee holds quarterly meeting

The 色窝窝无码一区二区三区鈥檚聽Citizens Bond Oversight Committee toured the new Webb Elementary School building to kick off its meeting on Tuesday. The new Webb building is still under construction but is scheduled to open in January.

Following the tour, the committee members met in the current Webb library to receive updates on the 2019 Bond program. They heard status reports from 色窝窝无码一区二区三区 administrators about bond-funded projects for facilities, fine arts, technology, security and transportation.

鈥淲e put this committee together for transparency purposes and accountability purposes,鈥 said Dr. Aaron Reich, 色窝窝无码一区二区三区 trustee, as he thanked the committee for its valuable input.

The CBOC鈥檚 work is to follow the district鈥檚 bond program progress and report its findings and recommendations to the 色窝窝无码一区二区三区 Board of Trustees (read the CBOC鈥檚 charge). The committee meets quarterly to receive updates on the implementation progress of the bond and then develops a report of its findings and recommendations.

Webb Elementary and the 2019 Bond

The new school building at Webb will replace the current building, which opened in 1960 as the original Nichols Junior High School. Webb鈥檚 current site is large enough that the new building is under construction on the property while the current building remains open.

Webb is the first of four school replacements funded by the 2019 Bond, an effort to modernize the district鈥檚 schools and revitalize their neighborhoods. It鈥檚 all about providing generations of students with the opportunities they need to succeed in the 21st聽century. In addition to Webb, a new Berry and new Thornton elementary are also under construction, slated to open for the 2023-24 school year. Finally, Carter Junior High will be replaced with a new building at a new location 鈥 the site of the former Knox Elementary (and now the temporary Thornton). The new Carter is currently in design.
