Hi Senior Parents!

There are quite a few events coming up so I wanted to send a quick email. All senior things get updated on ourÌý. Please be sure to bookmark this location and refer to it whenever you have questions. tinyrul.com/AHSeniors

10/1: ACT TestingÌý- This is free and all seniors must take the ACT. An email was sent with logistics information.

One thing about the ACT is that you get better at it every time you take it. If your senior needs an ACT score for college, I would recommend taking it with us and then planning to take it again. (You'll have to register and pay for that on your own, but your counselor can help.)

10/3: Senior Panoramic PhotoÌýat 7:45AM - Yes, 7:45AM.ÌýWe have to schedule this in the morning because we close off traffic on Park Row. Seniors will actually have to wake up early EVEN IF THEY HAVE AN OFF PERIOD and come to school for the photo. Dress up!

10/3: Senior Parent MeetingÌý@ 6pm in Cafeteria. Enter through New B. We'll talk about graduation. And answer all the questions.

10/22: Cap and Gown Orders DUE.ÌýCan you get them later? Probably. But it's way more stressful that way. Just try to get it done now.

Checking Credits:ÌýIf you are receiving this email, that means your student is classified as a senior. To be classified as a senior, your student needs 18 credits. In order to graduate, your student likely needs 26 credits (there are multiple graduation plans so this may vary).

It is wise for you to get into the portal to make sure your student is on track. Our counselors meet with your student, but you'll still want to check as well. You can check credits in Parent Self Serve. Then select "Credit Summary" from the menu to see what they need and what they've earned. Students with a full courseload can receive 8 credits per year.

Hi Colts,

I hope you all enjoyed our eventful Hoco Week! It is always full of such great energy and I love seeing how our students get into the spirit of high school.

SENIOR PARENTS: I have another email coming your way. Stay tuned.

It may feel like the busy season is behind us, but October wants you to think otherwise! This is the time when we get into the swing of things and the busy days become a part of life. I hope you are settling into a routine of just taking it one day at a time.

I am so impressed with our students this year.ÌýToday, I took some time on the announcements to thank the thousands of students who care about their education for being in class, and to remind the tens of students who were in the hallways to walk the halls at home or the mall...but not the halls of Arlington High.

It is very easy to see that our students are getting taught at home the importance of showing up and being respectful. Our kids WANT to do well and they WANT to graduate. And if that is your goal, AHS is the place for you.

Thank you, as always, for doing your part as parents to keep AHS the best school in Arlington.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please send them to your child's AP or counselor for the fastest response.

Significant change coming on Park Row affects students parking and being dropped off at the MAC. /arlington-high-school/campus-news/2024/09/16/significant-change-coming-on-park-row-affects-students-parking-and-being-dropped-off-at-the-mac/ Mon, 16 Sep 2024 13:30:35 +0000 /arlington-high-school/?p=21317 map1

Hi Colts,

I want to make you aware of a significant change coming on Park Row that affects students parking and being dropped off at the MAC.

Starting Monday, 9/16/24, there will be only one lane open for eastbound traffic on Park Row. Additionally,Ìýthere will be only one entrance to the MAC from Park Row. Please see the attached map for clarity.

Students will need to enter the MAC parking lot from the West entrance only. They will be able to exit the parking lot from both exits.

We will have a police officer directing traffic to help keep everyone safe. Please do not drop your students off in the construction zone.

I know this is going to be another hardship for our campus and I appreciate your help and support throughout this entire endeavor. Please be safe drivers and manage your emotions while dropping off students. Also, remind your students to do the same and manage their emotions while driving.ÌýAngry and impatient drivers are extremely dangerous to our students.Ìý

You will have to wait in a line. You will want to move along when others are moving slowly. Just take a breath. Do not honk, yell, or be aggressive. One of the most dangerous things I see is speeding into the parking lot because you are late, or speeding out of the parking lot after you drop off your student. Slow down. I know some of our kids are going to be bad drivers and I'll work on them. But parents, I'm asking you all to drive like responsible adults. You have the capacity to manage emotions better than a teenager. Please use that capacity each morning and afternoon.

I truly appreciate the support of our community. Things continue to challenge us, but we will get through it and be better then before. My hope is that this project makes us more patient, more community oriented, and more grateful. I can already see that happening and we'll keep growing throughout.

*My email is extremely full at this time. If you have any questions that need immediate attention, pleaseÌýemail your student's AP, counselor, or Ms. Avila (my secretary).*

Have a great rest of your weekend, Colts!

Sincerely,

Stacie Humbles, Principal
