馃摎 Attention all parents and guardians! 馃摎

Yesterday, our 2nd-4th graders had a special visitor from the Arlington Public Library who shared some exciting news about summer reading programs! 馃尀馃摉 Not only do these programs encourage a love for reading, but participants also have the chance to win awesome prizes - yes, that includes adults too! 馃巵鉁

Here's what you need to know to get started:

馃敄 Library Card Sign-up: Student school ID Numbers can be used to Checkout 2 books and access books online. However, to access more books, physical and digital, a library card is needed. Parents or guardians must be present and have their ID for their child to get a library card. You can also do this online.

馃摫 Beanstack App: Check out the FAQ and step-by-step directions for the Beanstack app, which is a fantastic tool for tracking reading progress and participating in challenges. Languages can be changed under the GLOBE image at the top far right of the screen. Beanstack App FAQ and Directions:

馃摎 Discover Summer Programs: No library card? No problem! You do not need a library card to participate in programs! Check out the Discover Summer FAQ and the main APL Portal to see what exciting events and activities are coming up, especially those happening in June!

馃摎 Locations and Branches: Did you know there are 7 branches of the Arlington Public Libraries? Books can be checked out and returned at every location. For example, if a student checks out an item at the George W Hawks Downtown library, they can return the books at the same location OR whichever is nearest to them.

馃摉 Discover Reading Challenge: Wondering what books can count towards the challenge and how to log into the Beanstack app challenge? Any books (Ebook, Physical, audiobook), from the library or from home, can count! You can use the Libby app for online resources and you can also use the Sora app found in the students鈥 Rapid Identity. The main purpose of the challenge is for kids (and Adults!) to keep reading this summer!

馃弳 Reading Challenge Duration: Is it a consecutive 14 days to finish the reading challenge? No, as long as the students read a total of 14 days during the 60 days of summer, and track it on the Beanstack app, they will receive a prize bag that includes a new free book, and other fun stuff.

Get ready to embark on a reading adventure this summer with the Arlington Public Library! 馃殌馃摎
